"I love you madly…
What does it mean to love madly?
What's the difference between: mad love, love mad, and "I love you very much?"
Are those related to each other? Are they the same thing? Or is mad love of an entirely different level?
If mad love is an entirely different level: Who do you love madly? Do you love madly one person? Two people? Three? What do you do when you're a mad lover? Are you insane? Are you mad? (Do we need to place constraints on you, perhaps lock you up?)
Or is there some way in which mad love is actually the only sanity? What does mad love mean?
What would mad love be as the matrix of an economic platform?
What would mad love be as a politics of mad love?
What would mad love look like in the middle of a presidential debate? On September 10th there is a presidential debate with Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. How do we both fiercely contest and love madly?
Why might it be true that the realization of mad love as a profound shift—an actual evolution of the source code—might be the single most important response to the meta-crisis?
The answer to this set of questions is truly everything!
But let's go back to the beginning. What do we even mean by mad love? Why do we append a word which connotes insanity, "mad", to love?
Love seems to be many things, but hopefully it does not mean "mad" as in completely insane—although it might drive you insane!. Does mad love just mean "love drives you insane?", or is there something more?
The Six Distinctions of Mad Love
Here at One Mountain, Many Paths, we're responding to the meta-crisis by telling a new Story of Value, rooted in a universal grammar of value.
We enact a new human possibility: a set of First Principles and First Values which tell a New Story that changes the source code and shifts the vector of history, healing the past, and saving the future—from potential extinction, from existential risk, from the death of humanity, or from the extinction of that which is uniquely human in us— the death of our humanity.
This story of value is a love story! It is a mad love story!
I am madly excited to be back with you on Sunday September 8th.
I would love to offer you the six distinctions of mad love and why they matter more than anything!
Mad love,
Dr. Marc Gafni"
